To be honest, the word lifestyle does sound a bit weird, don’t you think? What exactly is a “lifestyle”?

It comprises what we humans do in terms of health, relationships, money, spirituality, personal growth, hobbies, travelling​ and so on. So all the things and areas in which we act and operate. Everything we do has an impact on our health and environment.

As a life coach, it is important to me to help people live their lives in such a way that they can easily become the best possible version of themselves. In accordance with the holistic way of life, I work in harmony with body, mind and soul.

The question I keep asking myself is: how conscious and aware am I when it comes to creating my own lifestyle? Which prprinciples/values​o I follow or embody? I believe that if we act consciously, we then consciously influence what we truly want and what fulfils us in life. For our own good, that of our family, our personal surroundings and the environment as such. However, we can only make conscious choices, if we have detailed information about the possibilities, and if the puzzle is complete.

A few years ago, an important piece of the puzzle came to me, enriching my life in the process. One of my oldest friends came to Amsterdam and enthusiastically began to tell me about micronutrients, prevention and detox. She looked at me, beaming with joy, and I realized that whatever she was doing, it was working. I hadn’t seen her for about three months and indeed, she did look a bit more energetic. She seemed lively, her skin was smoother, she simply looked younger and above all more relaxed. It was obvious that these micronutrients were good for her. But detox? What should we detox from? Where do we get toxins and how do they enter our bodies? Well, I was somewhat aware of the fact that our food contains pesticides and preservatives, and that pollution damages our health, but could it really be that bad? After all, I thought, I eat healthy and organic food, hardly any sugar, it can’t affect me.

As I took her advice, started taking micronutrients and tried the detox myself – while shedding 3 kilos, by the way – and felt increasingly healthier and clear-headed, it raised even more questions.

Now I wanted to know more. Like a detective, I went looking for answers. I am laughing at myself as I write this. Because whenever I want to know something, I will investigate it thoroughly, until eventually my thirst for knowledge is satisfied. Thus, over the last few years, I have questioned everything concerning how / which toxins get into the body and the damage they can bring about. I learned that we encounter many substances every day, toxins that our body sometimes simply cannot eliminate, and how we can support this process. Toxins can influence our body in various ways. I found out, for instance, that it’s stressful for the body to eliminate the toxins! This causes cortisol (stress hormone) imbalance, which can have a harmful effect on body and mind in the long term.

As you can imagine, I am grateful to my friend for telling me about her experience with detox and health prevention. It was an important piece of the puzzle, which I was unknowingly missing in order to follow a healthy holistic lifestyle.

I have changed a lot since then. I detox every year and I generally do everything to strengthen, nourish and cleanse my body and mind.

Moreover, I found myself wondering, where do I find toxins in my body? And how can I avoid them in the first place? I was eager to find out. And I would like to share that knowledge with you. There are a number of toxins around us that we encounter every day. In our personal hygiene, clothes, at home, at work, in our environment. During my research, the information about toxins in cosmetics initially seemed to be the most shocking. One the one hand, because we use them on a daily basis, and on the other hand, because I have been working with conventional cosmetics for many years as a hairdresser and makeup artist, and thus absorbed many toxins through the skin and respiratory tract. Therefore, this was the first thing I changed. I read countless books, attended training courses, seminars, workshops and readings. I eagerly soaked up everything I could find out about health, toxins, etc., consistently implementing it step-by-step, at home and at work. Later, I began looking into toxins in clothes and zero waste.

As a result, I not only became an eco hairdresser, I now also advise people on how they can easily change from a conventional to an ecological lifestyle. I will show you how to increase your own well-being and that of your family. By simplifying our life and living a balanced eco lifestyle, we become more powerful.
